American Idol, Season 8

Eric & I just finished watching a very enjoyable season of American Idol. Its so neat to watch it from the beginning & see how they all progress. We were huge Adam & Danny fans from the beginning, but then Kris started getting better, so we added him on too :) Adam's range just made us smile when he would do his screams....he can seriously sing & we always looked forward to his next performance. Kris won Eric over when he did an acoustic guitar version of Heartless. We were happy with either of them winning & know they will both do great!!!

Below are links to our favorites :) You have to click to download from iTunes, but its free. This is the only place the videos are posted.

Merry May

We had a wonderful weekend & nice time spent with family. Lauren & I took mom to lunch on Friday at McGills, we don't get much time with her alone these days, so we scheduled something during the week so she could get away. Eric took off work Friday, and was so sweet to mow the yard (during a brief dry few hours he had), do the laundry & wash the dishes (we don't have a dishwasher, so its always a big chore to do this & neither of us are fans, ha). So that freed up having to do these things Sat or Sun! Friday night we went to eat at one of our favorites lately, Leon's in Brookside. We took it pretty easy that night.

We were pretty lazy Saturday morning, Eric just bought the new Legend of Zelda game for the Wii, so he's been playing it quite a bit. We left to run some errands & then met my mom, grandma, and Lauren at Olive Garden in Utica Square for our Mother's Day lunch. We do it on Sat. to avoid the crowds on Sun. since my grandma is in a wheelchair, its just easier. Lauren, mom & my grandma all got a peach bellini, which was hilarious! It was a great meal as always!

We shopped around Utica Square a while (I don't go there without some shopping!) :) and then went on back home. I took a nap with Capone and we decided to stay in that night. We ordered a pizza and watched The Reader, our latest Netflix delivery. I had been wanting to see it because I really like Kate Winslet, but it was interesting, not quite what I was expecting. Interesting enough story, but we could've done without the multiple scenes of nakedness!

Made it to church this morning and then picked up Camille's for lunch and went to my grandma's to do the Mother's Day gifts. We started my mom a
Pandora charm bracelet, they are so fun! So we are trying to build up her charm collection.

A jewelry store in Utica Square has all of their charms & accessories,
J. Spencer.

Eric got mom an Obama Mother's Day card--mainly because he knows she can't stand him so he thought it was pretty hilarious :)

We got my grandmother some more books (she reads like crazy) and mom got her a prayer box bracelet that was really cute.

Lauren was in the middle of studying for her test, so she was able to come by for a while, but had to leave a little earlier.

Here are some pics from the afternoon:

Happy Mother's Day!!

A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials heavy and sudden, fall upon us; when adversity takes the place of prosperity; when friends who rejoice with us in our sunshine desert us; when trouble thickens around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavor by her kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts. ~Washington Irving

God could not be everywhere, so he created mothers. ~Jewish Proverb

I remember my mother's prayers and they have always followed me. They have clung to me all my life. ~Abraham Lincoln

Happy Mother's Day to all, I hope you have a wonderful day! I am especially grateful for my mom & grandmother--who will be 90 this year. They are both the epitomy of who I can only hope to be like. My mom has done the ultimate & works a full time job, plus takes care of my grandmother. She basically has 2 jobs! She has unbelievable patience, is always kind & understanding, even though the stress of it gets to her sometimes. She does an amazing job. They are both a true example of Proverbs 31.

Eric's mom, Bonnie, is in Tucson, but we sent her flowers & talked to her a long time Friday night. She is very active & busy and doing well. We are looking forward to visiting her & Eric's stepdad in Santa Fe in June.

Thank you for being the perfect examples of what a mother should be! We Love You!!

National Day of Prayer

The 58th Annual National Day of Prayer will take place Thursday, May 7, 2009. Millions will unite in prayer as thousands of events will take place from coast to coast. The theme for this year is "Prayer... America's Hope" and is based on the verse from Psalm 33:22 which states:
"May your unfailing love rest upon us, O Lord, even as we put our hope in you."

Beth Moore will join Shirley Dobson to lead the nation in prayer as the 2009 Honorary Chairman of the National Day of Prayer Task Force.
Please go here to learn more about how to help pray for our Great Nation.
The National Day of Prayer website can be found by going here.

"But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint."
Isaiah 40:31

Dallas Fun

This past weekend we had a wedding Saturday night in Dallas for a family friend of mine, Jake Thomas. It was a nice little get away for us, although it was a bit of a rainy weekend. We left Friday afternoon & stayed with our friends Peete & Bethany in McKinney. We hadn't seen them since Christmas, so we were looking forward to it. Their little girl, Presly, was one of the flower girls in our wedding, so we are pretty crazy about their kiddos! Their little boy is 11 mos old and he is so cute & such a good baby! I don't have any pictures unfortunately :(

Saturday we had breakfast at La Madeline and I got a crepe, which took me back to my crepe addiction while we were in Paris....

We went on into Dallas and shopped for a bit in Highland Park not far from our hotel. I wanted to go in Anthropologie, one of my favorite stores that I wish Tulsa had! We ate at Corner Bakery & then right across from it was Sprinkles Cupcakes, which of course was on our list of stops :) I had a Red Velvet one & Eric had chocolate on chocolate. They were so good & I really wish I owned the place :)

We were going to go see King Tut, but it was too expensive for our taste & we weren't all that interested anyway. So we went across the street to the Sculpture Museum, pretty neat. I enjoyed the garden area & the weeping willow trees :)

As we were about to leave, it started pouring outside, we were parked about 4 blocks away. It was a crazy storm. So we bought an umbrella in the gift shop & made our way to the car, laughing most of the way & getting soaked! Headed back to the hotel where I took a nap & then we got ready for the wedding. It was at an Episcopal church & then the reception was at a place called 7 Senses. Really neat place, artsy, fun furniture. They had a live band that was really good, and the food was great. We enjoyed the grilled cheese :) Here are some pics from the event:

Eric & I with my dad...

Sunday morning we met friends, Ty & Natalie and Ms. Kate at Breadwinner's. We hadn't met Kate yet, she will be 2 this summer & is pretty much the cutest little girl :) You can check out their blog here and see tons of cute pics of them all! Hopefully we will get to hang out with them again sooner than later. Next we headed back to Sprinkles for one more cupcake, and I got a half-dozen to take home :)
Eric was already eating one by the time I took the picture :)

Last we made a stop at Nordstrom Rack (I so wish we had in Tulsa also!), then I had to drop Eric off at DFW for a work trip he had to take. It was a tiring drive home, but a great weekend!!!!
